Last night we gathered together to celebrate our brilliant volunteers. The energy, hard work and commitment they give to Amina makes the charity what it is.

With a delicious dinner at Cafe Salma we recognised all of our volunteer's contributions. Nine women were selected for "outstanding" awards: Sajida Malik (counselling); Tabassum Sarwar (counselling); Tasneem Shahid (helpline project); Safa Yousaf (school Work); Robina Khan (Friendship Group); Zahida Akhtar (Befriending); Rozina Ahmed (VAW Project); Renee Mackenzie (Marketing and ‘I speak for myself campaign’) and Fizza Nasir (Fundraising).

Yesterday was our conference, Inspire Change. Featuring inspiring speakers, workshops and videos, not to mention some delicious food, we hope that all the women who attended enjoyed it as much as we did!

It's an exciting day at the office, as our new cookbooks have arrived! Filled with recipes from staff and volunteers, from Kheer to Kentucky fried chicken and from Biryani to baklava, it's a treasure trove of delicious ideas!

We'll be selling them tomorrow at the Shawlands Mela and at our Inspire Change conference on Sunday. Look out for them at all future events! A mere £5 for month's worth of tasty dishes!

Islam Awareness Week is finally here. The "I Speak For Myself" exhibition is at Glasgow Central Mosque as part of the week, so do go down and have a wee look. There are many events taking place to better understanding of Muslims and Islam, particularly about all the things we have in common.. did you know the first British lady to go to hajj was Lady Evelyn Cobbold?
